It gives me great pride to give back in meaningful way to a special group of local American heroes and families that have made significant sacrifices for our freedom and protection.Walt Ellenberger
My mother was a nurse during World War II at the Bronx VA Hospital. She married a veteran who sadly died from complications of his paralysis a year after their marriage. Having experienced her life through stories and photos, this cause is near and dear to my heart. I was caring for Mom in Cape May and after she died I moved across the Delaware Bay last June. Looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, I found Operation Second Chance. After a wonderfully inspiring day at Paddle Second Chance with a team of warm and welcoming volunteers and veteran families...I was hooked and have been on board ever since.Cathy Melfi
I have been supporting Paddle Second Chance because the event has proven such a unique and joy filled opportunity to bring together elite and amateur athletes with those who have served our country and sacrificed and with families in a day long competition and celebration of community. I have seen the proceeds raised translate into tangible help and support for our wounded veterans filling needed gaps in their lives that improves their family health and well-being.Roger Chaufournier
