July 25th and 26th
Gerald and BJ, Merle and Sharon picked me up and we headed to Cheyenne for Frontier Days. It’s the biggest outside Rodeo in the world.
Before we left Merle and Gerald got my exhaust turned so my caps fit on. Smehow they turned during travels and the cap didn’t fit.
We had a wonderful time and after being there, I was glad I didn’t attempt to bring Johnabilt into town. It was jammed with cars and people but, we still had a nice time.
When we got back the guys dropped the girls off at their Hotel and brought me to my campsite, where we chatted and relaxed at the picnic table.
Before they left Merle trimmed me up and did a great job. I am presentable once again!
I took off around 7am and putted down through Laramie and stopped at end of town to get some coffee, then headed south on route 278, Another beautiful ride and I stopped and did a photo op at the Colorado State Line.
I continued on south had some beautiful mountain scenery in the west. I stopped and took a number of pictures of Johnabilt. Keep watching, we might have some of these framed to sell in the near future.
My friends were leaving for the Denver airport this morning and decided to come south on route 278, and 3 hours into my travels they passed me and we stopped and took more pictures before saying our good byes.
I felt blessed that they came out to surprise me and pay a visit, it meant a lot to me them. For the first time in the last two days I got to see friends from back east, all the while I was in the western states!
Later in the day I started running into a lot of truck traffic the rest of the day. I only had a half of a shoulder, but it was tiring watching for trucks and I was glad to get to my KOA Campsite just little west of Fort Collins.
I pulled in and they said they are full and cannot take me. I asked if I couldn’t just park somewhere. I only go 15 mph and there were no campsites for another 50 miles.
They got the owner out and found out some one left and wasn’t coming back until tomorrow so he said he will put me in there. Wow I was relieved.
I got smiley off its perch and rode her up town to a local restaurant and got a warm meal.
Not sure what tomorrow will bring. There is a state park 60 miles east of route 14 no electric. It looks like I need to take that and then I am hoping after that It will be easier to get a campground and I am hoping to have better cell service.
I am on their WiFi, but it’s real slow, so I am not sure I will be able to send this off today.
Tomorrow is a new day.
