As I was leaving the campsite this morning the park owners came out to say good bye. It was a clear and beautiful clear. I was pleased that RT 20 was smooth I could sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
I heard on the news last night that I was heading west on RT 20. I believe it was an entertaining day for folks, as many were going by waving and even the truckers were honking their horns. I would say that 80% of the cars and trucks I met today waved at me. The scenery is changing and I am enjoying taking pictures and watching what’s around the next curb. I arrived to an old 1800 town in Johnson, NE, and I had to stop and take a few pictures of the old bank, General Store and Salon and before you think it; no I was not inside. Lol
I came on west to Valentine, NE, it was further than I wanted to go but I got to my camp site it was only 11am and I felt pretty good kept putting further west. There are more cattle grazing and less crops the further west I get in NE.
Before I got to Valentine, I crossed an historic high bridge. The old one was beside it. You can still cross it, so after I got over the new bridge I stopped at a rest area, and unloaded Smiley and headed back to the bridge. I wanted to see the big bridge I went over from the much lower and older one. I did take some video of Johnabilt going over and looking down. It was very high indeed!
When I arrived at my campsite, Wacky West Travel Park, I pulled in and the owner came out. He is a veteran and loves our mission and said no charge and to go find a spot.
