Sept 13 Gardner to Jonesville, LAIt was another very hot day and I was so glad to arrive at Old Man River Campground, around 1 pm. I turned on the ai-conditioner and went to bed and took a nap.I went outside to do some work on Johnabilt, but soon came back in, it was too hot and unfit to be out working. I was still tired, so I went back in the camper and took another nap.The camp owner came by to thank me and told me there will not be a charge for me to stay there. He is Veteran and loves what we are doing. The campground is along a river and this spring they had 4 ft of water over all the camp sites. He said this is Louisiana and all the water that comes down through here, starts in Canada. They were under water for 7 months from all the rain this spring and snow melt.Sept 14 Jonesville, LA to Natchez, MIThis was police appreciation day. I actually got stopped by four different officers! I started out from Old Man River campground east of Jonesville and headed east on route 84. I had a lot of traffic, but I was able to run on the shoulder most of the day. My magnets sure show it, as they are full of nails, screws and all kinds of metal. Thank goodness for those magnets, or I would be having to fix tires every day.As I was heading through Ferriday, LA, I noticed a State Policeman had radar set up and he was watching me while I went past. After a couple of miles I looked in my mirror and I see he is following me and then passes me. He turned around further up the road and comes back and gives me thumbs up and I motioned that I will stop, so he made a U turn and pulled up behind me. He walked around the camper as I was crawling out. First thing he said, “You haven’t done anything wrong, I just want to know what this is all about, this is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.”He said, “I already looked up your website while I was sitting by the road. I just had to hear more about this.” So I shared what OSC is all about and he said I just wanted to thank us, and tell us what a rig and this is so wonderful Thank you for caring! Well, he made my day!He was happy to sign my book and said, “anything you need call us.” He kept saying, “I love this, you are doing a wonderful thing!”I thanked him for his service and we departed. I wasn’t long up the road and here comes another Officer by and waves. Now I am heading further through town and getting close to the big bridge that crosses the Mississippi River and I noticed a Sheriff following me and then pass me. He made a U turn, headed back and made another U-turn and now he was following me closely. I am thinking do we have trouble? So I decided to pull off. He walks up and says. “You have done nothing wrong, I just want to thank you, do you mind if I call my partner that’s out on patrol, I would like for him to see this?”Well his partner was too far away so he signed the book for his partner and thanked me for bringing so much awareness. He said, “This means so much to him.” Before I left he said, “I would be honored to escort you across the Mississippi River. That bridge is high and there is a lot of traffic.” Of course I accepted and I got escorted across Mississippi River in style.I had to stop and do a photo app on the Mississippi State sign. On my way again and heading towards my campground on a 4 lane highway, when I noticed a State Trooper had radar set up on the opposite side of the road. I looked in my mirror I see him doing an U-turn and here he comes. I am thinking I don’t believe this! He pulls up beside me and is giving me a thumbs up. I motioned to him that I will pull over. He walks up and also said, “You did nothing wrong, I just think this is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen and we appreciate what you are doing.” I further shared about OSC and after while he asked if he could take pictures with me.I mention I am heading to Plantation RV Park just up the road and he said, “Do you mind if I call a friend of mine to stop by? He works a lot with Veterans and I would like for you to share with him your program.”It was a great day and I surrounded by our brave Law Enforcement Officers!
