Aug 8th Huntsville to Livingston, Texas It was a very hot day up to 100 degrees. I arrived at an Indian Reservation campground. It was very nice, and I was so ready to call it a day with the heat. After I got set, I crawled in the camper, which has a good air conditioning and I slept for two hours. I must have been exhausted! I got up and made myself go out and adjust my clutch, because I felt it slipping today on the rolling hills. I checked the oil and couldn’t wait to get back in the camper. Had soup for dinner and went to bed. I know I slept for 11 ½ hours. Aug 9th Livingston to Jasper, Texas I was up bright and early and ready to head down the road before it got so hot. Actually today we had a cloud cover and it didn’t get as hot as these past few days I thought Johnabilt even ran little better, since it was not as hot. Route 190 is a nice route. It has a wide shoulder most of the time, but oh boy, am I picking up nails and junk on my magnets! I saw lots and lots of logging trucks. I stopped at a gas station to call a radio station that asked me to call when I get within 20 miles of Jasper. They would like to come out today for an interview. I was calling and a young Veteran came by and asked about our mission and what OSC stands for. I had a nice chat with him and he signed the book and left. It wasn’t long, and he came back and asked if I was hungry. He said, “There is a good restaurant across the road, and I would like to buy you breakfast.” I went along over and we had a nice visit. He loved our stories and asked the owner to come over, and he introduced us. Before I left, the owner had all the employees come out for a picture by the rig. Thank you Keith for breakfast. And thank you to Tammy of Tammy’s Kitchen. Tammy invited me back another time and the meal would be on her. I had a shorter day today and was glad. I wasn’t feeling my best from all the heat. Arrived at Log Cabin RV Park along route 190. I think I will stay here two nights to rest up and get caught up with my maintenance. I did a load of wash and went to bed.
