HEALING ARTS PROGRAM

Women Veterans Healing Arts Program – Expanding Creative Healing and Community

Due to the growing and unique needs of women veterans, Operation Second Chance (OSC) partnered with the St. Mary’s County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council in 2023 to launch a creative arts program specifically for women veterans in Southern Maryland.

Now in its third cycle of arts grant funding, this program has become a meaningful and transformative space for women veterans—providing more than just art-making opportunities. Through a series of workshops and gatherings, the Women Veterans Healing Arts Program fosters connection, healing, and empowerment. Veterans from all branches and service eras come together to explore creative expression, reduce stress, and build a supportive community of peers who understand their lived experiences.

The success of the Southern Maryland program has laid the groundwork for future offerings, proving the power of art to promote healing, resilience, and well-being.

Building on this momentum, OSC is proud to expand the Women Veterans Healing Arts Program into Central Ohio, now serving women veterans in Franklin, Delaware, and surrounding counties.

We remain committed to honoring and supporting women who have served by providing inclusive, restorative spaces where they can be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Women Healing Arts programs are currently in southern MD, southern NJ, and  Ohio, and we are looking to expand to more states.
